Check out Joelle's feet...that's two - count them, TWO - items of normal footwear she's wearing. Yesterday afternoon she finally got the "ok" to kiss that walking boot good-bye! She has been on crutches or in that boot for EIGHT weeks now. And we're trying to not focus on the fact that according to the follow-up x-rays, now we're being told that there doesn't appear to be any evidence that there was even a fracture to begin with...?!?! The newest suspect is a tendon issue but at this point who knows. We're just celebrating that we are hopefully at the end of this journey!

I'm hosting an online Jamberry party this week, and tonight I did Malia's nails with my hostess sample pack. I need practice, but I'll get the hang of it!

Clutter makes me stressed. Like big-time. So the fact that the girls' art cupboard has stayed clean since Saturday (it had gotten WAY out of hand) makes me happy. I still smile every time I look at this corner.

I got back on the treadmill today to do this walking incline workout. It wasn't as good of a burn as running, but it was a way to start easing my way back into working out. It has been far too long!

Today I was with Tiny TreeHugger at a trade show all day. With it being Sunday, it was very strange to not be at church with my family or being together with them for lunch and the afternoon. They all thought it felt strange too, and when I got home my girls were all about their Mama. Feels nice to be so loved!

Mom of the Year award goes to me today. I scored tickets to see these guys in concert next summer! To say the girls (especially Joelle) are excited would be a massive understatement. Oh, and it looks like their new CD comes out in time for Christmas!

Friday, October 24, 2014

Today it was this lovely lady's turn for a special treat with Mom as a reward for some hard work paying off. Celebrating my girls' amazing accomplishments is very important to me and I loved doing that with Joelle this afternoon.

Staying up late watching The Biggest Loser...remembering the not-so-distant past when these numbers were my reality. And if I don't get motivated soon, these numbers will be my future.

I was so proud of Joelle today. She came home from school talking about a fundraiser for her Grade 6 winter camp and was so excited to get started with making phone calls. For every box of frozen cookie dough she sells, she gets $6 off the cost of her weekend. If she (and at least 9 other students) sell 15+ boxes, they get a limo ride and a free lunch at Boston Pizza. A few hours later and her goal was reached! Her weekend will be free and she's hoping for that limo ride! I'm so proud of her determination and her attitude to get this done so quickly.

My "handiwork" Facebook page is one shy of 250 likes! I'm hoping for another successful Christmas season again.

This girl.
I had forgotten to tell her this morning that I might not be home when she got home from school in the afternoon, but being the grown-up and responsible child that she is, she let herself in, was there to greet her sister when she got home after her and even unloaded the dishwasher without being asked. And not even a frantic "Mom where are you?" text. I love this stage!

Today I basked in the gloriously warm sun (through the van windows while hubby was "window-shopping" for a TV). It was like a warm healing balm for my weary soul.

The Thanksgiving tree at our church Thanksgiving dinner tonight. We all write things on our leaves that we were thankful for and stapled them to the tree. It looks like God has blessed us all abundantly!

Good thing I don't need to eat the red ones last...since I didn't get any!

Thursday, October 16, 2014

Not your typical goodie bag you may get from Grandma's house...but yes, that is a bag of lettuce Joelle is munching on!

Thanking God that His mercies are new every morning.

Sometimes, when everything in life seems to be weighing you down...something as simple as a haircut can lighten the load. At least a little. The "before" picture makes me feel a big weight on my shoulders just looking at it. I know my new hairstyle won't actually take away my burdens, but it can give me something to smile and feel good about...even if only for a short while.

Poutine...and precious alone time while enjoying it. Yes please.

Thanksgiving dinner at my parents' place tonight. One word: A-maz-ing!

Friday, October 10, 2014

While Malia was modeling my new Olaf hat today, she characteristically turned goofy and pulled it over her face like a mask. Love this kid!

Thursday, October 9, 2014

I started today with a selfie, feeling positive in coral and polka-dots, telling myself I was going to rock this day. Turns out the day was on a steady decline that has ended far from positive. All I will say, friends, is prayer is needed. Every day.

Wednesday, October 8, 2014

Tonight while Joelle was at youth group, I took this Little Miss out for a cinnamon bun and hot chocolate to celebrate a special milestone. It's something personal so I won't share what it is, but to say that I am proud of her is an understatement! We had such a fun time together.

Tuesday, October 7, 2014

Usually Malia is my model for my "handiwork" projects, but today Joelle actually let me photograph her wearing my latest creation. But when I said I wanted to take another picture (cause from this angle the button looked off-center) she was quick to say I could use Malia's picture for my advertisement instead. Maybe next time...

I love it when my girls are actively using their imaginations. Tonight they did routines to a Frozen song and it was hilarious! Malia was Hans (she lost her toque at some point of the performance), Joelle was Anna and the piano bench served as Sven...note the cardboard head (there was also a tail and hooves that are a bit hard to see in this shot).

Sunday, October 5, 2014

We had an honorary member of our family for a big part of the day today.

Saturday, October 4, 2014

Today was Malia's official birthday party and she was quite thrilled with her cake! I love how it turned out too - and how incredibly simple it was to make! Another season of birthdays is behind us for another year!

Friday, October 3, 2014

No, Halloween didn't come early...these are some of the makings of Malia's candy themed birthday party for tomorrow! Yes, I'm the parent who will load your child up on sugar at a birthday party. You. Are. Welcome.

Thursday, October 2, 2014

I spy with my little eye...someone who is very tired and should've gone to bed a long time ago. And who slacked off on taking a decent picture today before it was too late.

Wednesday, October 1, 2014

Today this gem of a daughter turned 9! Her real cake comes on Saturday at her official birthday party, but we had to have a little something special she chose "pink pudding". Happy Birthday, my love.
