This girl. The last year and a half has been really rough for her...more than anyone even knows. And even though her smile doesn't reach her eyes as much as it used to, she still has such an undeniable light that manages to shine through the pain and difficulties that makes me believe she will be ok.

I love these art pieces that Joelle has made for me. They hang in my bedroom and have served to be great reminders for me!

The last few weeks have been so full of heat and humidity and clouds and storms. Tonight was refreshing to see lots of blue sky, and while it was still very warm in the sun, it wasn't unbearable nor overly humid. It felt really good.

We had a busy day in the city supply shopping,  an oil change for the Explorer and grocery shopping...where I made the girls shuck corn. Joelle refused to be in the picture,  not surprisingly!

We spent a couple of hours at a nearby beach on this sunny and HOT afternoon.

What a special night! I got to take my girls to the One Direction concert and they were in their glory. An awesome mother/daughter memory!

Thursday, July 23, 2015

While Malia was at her day camp program every day this week from 9-3, Joelle has been attending a few afternoons of art camp. This was one of her projects today. I love that she chose to do something from the Bible with her permanent chalk!

Sometimes when I look in the mirror I still can't believe that I actually shaved part of my head!! Sometimes it makes me feel bold and empowered and other times I worry about what others really think about it.

Sometimes when I look at the moon on a clear night I feel a sense of loneliness.  Maybe that's just me...

This gem of a girl is going to a week long day camp this week called Let Your Light Shine. It's a girls only camp that focuses on building self-esteem and a positive relationship with beauty, all while having fun with dance, games, crafts, and much more!

Sunday, July 19, 2015

Today really did not feel like a Sunday as 3 of our usual Sunday happenings didn't actually happen. Instead of eating out for lunch after church,  having nachos for supper and just relaxing on the couch in the evening...we came home for lunch, had a steak dinner AND had neighbours over for pie and ice cream in the evening. Other than going to church, it felt like a Saturday.

I kinda sorta got most of my head shaved today! It was definitely time for a change so I took the plunge and I'm so glad I did!

Friday, July 17, 2015

Today the girls got to each invite a friend and I took them to a fountain splash park in the city for the afternoon.  They all had a blast!  Next time though I am bringing a friend for myself too!

Thursday, July 16, 2015

The girls made scrambled eggs and hash browns today and they had me give them a time deadline and critique like on Master Chef.

Wednesday, July 15, 2015

Freshly picked from our backyard. Raspberries are my most favorite berry.

Tuesday, July 14, 2015

My turquoise ring accent with my bright red pants made me smile today. It's the little things...

Monday, July 13, 2015

More storm clouds rolled in early this evening. Some lightning and distant thunder were accompanied by an actual funnel cloud not far away. We didn't see it but many people in town posted pictures of it on Facebook tonight.

Sunday, July 12, 2015

We spent a good chunk of time this evening sky watching. Some creepy rotations were starting to form but went back up before they turned into anything real.

This beautiful lady will start grade 7 in September and turn 12 years old. To celebrate on our girls' weekend, I took her for a make-up tutorial and haircut today (followed by supper at Boston Pizza). I love the natural look of the make-up and how it just accentuates her beauty instead of making her look like someone she's not.

These two left this afternoon for the annual father/daughter camping trip....with a couple of changes. Instead of going to a regular campsite, they are going into the back country...and they are going without Joelle.

15 zip-lock bags of picked strawberries ready for the freezer!

Wednesday, July 8, 2015

Tonight my mom, oldest sister and I went out for supper at The Olive Garden and then to Rainbow Stage for Les Miz.

Tuesday, July 7, 2015

That day when you try on a million different outfits and nothing is working. Then you eventually have to leave the house in what you have on because you are out of time and then you spend the entire day hating what you ended up in. Oh yeah...and this picture makes my legs look like two very different sizes. Sadly the large size is the accurate one!

It was so good to see the blue sky today! For quite a few days (a week at least) the skies have been hidden behind a lot of haze from forest fires up in Northern Saskatchewan.  I like this blue much better.

Sunday, July 5, 2015

We made it!! We had plenty of good times with great food and even better company...but we both might be a little excited to be heading home!

Saturday, July 4, 2015

The girls had a great time trying out paddle boarding for the first time at the beach today!

Friday, July 3, 2015

Joelle and I are not big on camping (even though we get to sleep in Les' parents' camper) but we are ready to head into the weekend with good attitudes and have some fun!

Thursday, July 2, 2015

I was blessed with a whole pile of hand-me-downs yesterday and included in the lot were these bright red jeggings. I boldly wore them to work today and loved them!  It's all about wearing clothes with confidence.

Wednesday, July 1, 2015

We celebrated Canada Day by taking in a baseball game with some friends.  The game was a blow out (not in our favour) but it was a beautiful day to be outside and the girls had fun getting some autographs after the game.
